Several Des Moines Restaurants Cited For Food Safety Violations

(Des Moines, IA) — Mouse droppings, bugs, food stored at improper temperatures, and staff not washing their hands were just some of the violations state food safety inspectors found at several Des Moines area restaurants this summer.

Meat, veggies, and dips either colder or hotter than they were supposed to be were the primary violations at Sprockets on University Avenue, El Patron on Merle Hay Road, and Sol Agave in Grimes.

Staff were seen handling food with bare hands at Range Grill & Golf in Urbandale, while a Cheng’s Garden employee was drying his hands on an apron worn while preparing raw meat…
