Waukee school bus with students on board involved in crash

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — A metro school bus with students on board was involved in a crash on Tuesday night.

At around 8:40 p.m. first responders were called to the intersection of University Avenue and Country Club Boulevard for a report of a crash involving a Waukee Community School District school bus and a sedan.

According to the Clive Police Department, the bus was occupied by students heading back to Waukee High School after a swimming meet. Two students on the bus were injured. One of the students was transported to Blank Children’s Hospital for observation. The second was released to parents at the scene.

Clive police said that the driver of the sedan had to be extricated from the vehicle. The driver sustained injuries and was transported to a Des Moines hospital for treatment.
