Gas leak repaired in Grimes, evacuation over

GRIMES, Iowa — A major gas leak prompted residents in a Grimes neighborhood to evacuate on Friday morning, but officials say the leak has been repaired.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office asked people in the area between NW 7th Street and NW 3rd Street Place on NW Morningside Drive to evacuate after a construction worker hit a gas line near 405 North Morningside Drive around 10:30 a.m.

The City of Grimes said as of 12:50 p.m., that the repair had been fixed…
