Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes fumbled away a 14-0 lead for the second week in a row on Saturday, as they ended up losing 35-21 to the TCU Horned Frogs. In addition to falling to a dreadful 2-4 record on the year, the Colorado Football program was also in hot water recently as a result of the week prior.
During Colorado’s 24-21 Week 5 loss to the No. 25 BYU Cougars at Folsom Field in Boulder, fans throughout the stadium began to chant “(Expletive) the Mormons,” attacking the program, which the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sponsors. As a result, the Big 12 fined Colorado $50,000 and issued a public reprimand for the use of hate speech. The display of hate speech and fines have also led to Colorado changing its procedures for fan behavior during games.
As a result of the behavior from fans, Colorado announced via a statement on Monday that it’ll be implementing a handful of changes for Colorado’s Week 7 game against No. 22 Iowa State (4-1).
