Driver accused of doing donuts before rollover crash that seriously injured 1 in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY, Iowa — A Grimes man was charged on Monday for allegedly doing donuts in a field that resulted in a rollover crash that seriously injured one person in August.

During the early morning hours of August 23, Boone County Dispatch received a call from ON-STAR reporting a vehicle rollover crash with injuries. Court records state that deputies with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency personnel responded to the report, which claimed the crash happened in a field a short distance north of the 300 block of Cedar Street in Woodward.

According to court records, there were five people in a pickup truck and one of them, identified as a male, had become trapped under the truck when the crash occurred. When emergency personnel arrived, they found the victim had been moved out from under the truck but was seriously injured and unconscious. Court records state that the victim was in the bed of the truck when it rolled and was ejected.
