Des Moines Woman Gets Jail Time For 2023 Fight In Newton

A Des Moines woman facing a class D felony for a fight in Newton over two years ago, was sentenced to jail on a reduced charge Monday. Newton Police arrested forty-two-year-old Terina Latrice Lewis on October 13th, 2023 following a physical altercation with another woman outside of home on East 22nd Street South. According to the police report, Lewis had been drinking at home before coming to Newton. Officers said she bit the victim in the face, and was restrained before being able to use a knife and a bat she grabbed. Lewis was originally arrested on a felony going armed with intent charge. But in August, a Jasper County jury found her guilty of assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor. District Court Judge Charles Sinnard sentenced her to six days in jail and…..
