In Ames, Iowa, Parks and Recreation staff will begin shutting down drinking fountains and restrooms in city parks on Monday, October 27, 2025. This is due to lower overnight temperatures. Parks and Facilities Superintendent Joshua Thompson said the closures help prevent damage from frozen pipes, as the facilities are not heated. Water services will reopen in the spring when temperatures increase.
