The EMC Expo Center transformed into a massive baby shower as local organizations offered free baby essentials, health screenings, and parenting resources to hundreds of expectant and new parents.
The Des Moines Community Baby Shower inaugural event on Oct. 17 was one of Count the Kicks’ initiatives to improve birth outcomes through programming, advocacy and research.
Presented by UnityPoint Health and Hy-Vee, the event offered blood pressure screenings, dental screenings by Delta Dental’s I-Smile team and giveaways of newborn essentials to those who are currently pregnant, as well as families who welcomed a baby Aug. 1 or later…
