DES MOINES, Iowa – A new program with the Iowa DOT aims to give teen drivers with suspended licenses a second chance and address bad behavior.
The new “Alive at 25” program is primarily for teens whose licenses are suspended after a second violation. Teens who receive a second violation will get a notice in the mail offering the course option or a 30-day suspension. Drivers have a limited amount of time to make their choice.

“Alive at 25” is an online course that’s about four hours in length. It’s designed to be interactive, so students must have their cameras on and be engaged in the class. They’ll even have to discuss why they received a suspension and how they can correct the bad behavior.
“Alive at 25” specifically targets bad habits like distracted driving and not wearing a seatbelt. Officials with the DOT hope that by correcting these behaviors early, they’ll help teens avoid worse consequences and drive in a safer manner…
