WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Transportation is reversing changes made this week to Highway 5 after drivers and law enforcement shared negative feedback.
Usually, there are two lanes that merge from Highway 5 onto Interstate 35 near West Des Moines. However, on Monday, the Iowa DOT reduced the highway from two lanes to one.
District one engineer, Allison Smyth, said their goal was to improve safety in this area.
