One day after a leaking dam prompted an evacuation warning in Polk County, emergency officials have reported no major flooding in the area.
Polk County emergency officials said the Carter Lake Dam was compromised shortly before 8 p.m. Saturdaybecause of a hole in an ”earthen embankment,”and they urged some local residents to immediately evacuate the area in case of a breach. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch shortly before 10:30 p.m. because of the dam’s leak and potential failure, and it will stay in place until at least 6 p.m. Sunday.
“Be prepared to take action if the dam fails,” the NWS wrote on Facebook…
