DES MOINES, Iowa — “Wicked: For Good” premieres this weekend in theaters across the world, but coming next year, Iowans will have the chance to get a taste of Wicked first-hand.
The Broadway musical “Wicked” is hitting the Civic Center in downtown Des Moines Sept. 2-20, 2026.
It is one of the most sought after musicals right now with both parts of the “Wicked” movie now streaming. Des Moines Performing Arts said that bringing in shows like “Wicked” has been a priority.

“That’s always been a goal — to draw different kinds of audiences with different kinds of shows,” said Janet Casson, Community Engagement Coordinator for DMPA. “Sometimes they are blockbusters like “Wicked,” and sometimes they are lesser known shows like “Kimberly Akimbo” and “Suffs” that are coming out this season. But the goal with all of our programmers will be to create a lot of variety for all of our ticket holders throughout every season.”…
