Teddy bear’s hit the ice for Salvation Army annual Christmas toy drive

DES MOINES, Iowa — Hundreds of teddy bear’s flew into the rink Saturday night for the Salvation Army Annual Christmas Toy Shop.

The annual event is held each year by the Iowa Wild at the Casey’s Center. For over a decade fans have been tossing bears into the ice following the home team’s first goal.

“I think it means everything and especially more importantly, what it means to the kids that are going to be receiving these stuffed animals this holiday season. You know, it’s sad that in this world, you have kids that may not know if they’re going to be getting a Christmas gift,” said Ben Gislason, Director of Broadcasting.

“They don’t know if they’re going to be getting anything this holiday season. So it’s great that we can just do a little bit of a fraction of the help to give back to the community, that’s obviously given us so much.”…
