DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines non-profit is requesting warm coats for students and the metro has been stepping up.
Anna Campos and Cynthia Narvaez are teaming up with GreenState Credit Union and several local restaurants to collect winter coats in bins at each location. Campos felt inspired to give back to the community as many Iowans showed her compassion and support when her daughter, Ema Cardenas, who was walking home from school when she was killed in a hit-and-run in April of 2022.
The coat drive began outside Revival Church on 36th Street in Des Moines and is continuing with growing support.
