DMU earns accreditation to launch Its own residency programs

Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences announced it has received initial accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education to become a sponsoring institution, allowing the university to establish its own residency and fellowship programs. The milestone enables DMU to expand its role in addressing Iowa’s physician shortage by creating clinical training opportunities throughout the state. The university’s first program, a one-year fellowship in osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine based at the DMU Clinic, will begin accepting applications in 2026, with its inaugural fellow starting in 2027.
