DES MOINES, Iowa — Officials have identified a man who was found dead late Sunday night in a homeless encampment in a wooded area in northeast Des Moines.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the body of Nai Wee, 55, was located just before midnight in an area about a mile north of the Polk County River Place. PCSO said Wee was originally from Thailand and spoke Burmese. Wee did not have any known family members in the local area.

Initially, the PCSO said it appeared Wee died from cold exposure, but now officials say a preliminary investigation suggests existing medical conditions may have played a role.
Foul play isn’t suspected in the death, and officials say more details will be released once the final autopsy report is available…
