Five charged for vandalizing Winterset’s historic Clark Tower

Five people, including four juveniles, are being charged with criminal mischief after vandalizing Clark Tower in Winterset in November.

Phone numbers, racial slurs, names and inappropriate drawings were graffitied on the three levels of Clark Tower, a 25-foot-tall limestone monument built in 1926 to honor the legacy of some of Winterset’s first settlers.

Winterset police responded to the report of vandalism at Clark Tower in Winterset City Park on Nov. 23. After reviewing security camera footage, police identified the suspects’ vehicle and identified five suspects, according to a news release on Facebook…
