Wastewater authority approves updated governance agreement

The Des Moines Metropolitan Wastewater Reclamation Authority board unanimously approved an agreement at its monthly meeting Dec. 16, updating the governing document for the regional utility. The WRA is responsible for conveying and treating wastewater generated by 18 Des Moines area municipalities, counties and sewer districts. The revised agreement introduces broader participation mechanisms for member communities, clarifies asset and project classifications and raises the WRA’s debt limit from $675 million to $975 million to fund future infrastructure needs, ensuring continued compliance with Iowa code.
