DES MOINES, Iowa — Restaurant owners at Merle Hay Mall’s Food Court said they will be forced to close in March when construction starts on an Ice Arena after meeting with mall management.
Brian Ickowitz, the owner of the Maid-Rite at the Merle Hay Food Court, said that he is concerned about temporarily closing his business.
“When we found out about that, we weren’t sure if we were going to have to go, but they kind of made it sound like we’re going to start construction in March no matter what. So there will be downtime or you will have to leave. I started searching for another spot instantly, so and I got a couple, got a couple of spots and I if, if all goes well and they go through the construction and everything happens and there’s another spot here for me, hopefully I can come back her,” Ickowitz said.
