DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department says an arrest has been made in connection to the fatal New Year’s Day shooting.
The DMPD says officers were dispatched to an apartment residence in the 300 block of Court Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Thursday on reports of gunfire.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 30-year-old male who had sustained critical injuries from gunfire. The Des Moines Fire Department transported the man to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries despite lifesaving efforts.

DMPD Crimes Against Persons Section detectives interviewed witnesses at the scene, examined evidence, and followed leads. Authorities say detectives and CSI recovered a handgun believed to be connected to the investigation, from the water at Walnut Creek near the North Valley Drive Bridge.
DMPD detectives have charged 31-year-old Jordan Isaac Carmi with Murder in the 1st Degree. Authorities say DMPD patrol officers detained Carmi at the scene during the initial call response. Carmi is being held at the Polk County Jail…
