Ankeny PD searches for possible victims in alleged cryptocurrency scam

ANKENY, Iowa — The Ankeny Police Department says it is searching for possible victims related to an alleged Missouri-based cryptocurrency investment scam.

Ankeny police says it was contacted by the Columbia Police Department in Missouri related to a fraud investigation which resulted in the arrest of Charles Spencer Burri on Wednesday.

Authorities say Burri is the owner of Burri Asset Management, LLC. and reportedly solicited money from individuals for “cryptocurrency investments.” Columbia Police say after receiving the money, Burri would stop responding to the victims resulting in significant financial losses.

Missouri investigators told Ankeny police that evidence indicates Burri met with Ankeny and Des Moines metro area individuals around July 2025. Based on these findings, the Ankeny Police Department believes there may be additional victims in the area who have not come forward…
