An elegant live music establishment has closed in downtown Ames.

Noir bar, which operated at 405 Kellogg Ave. for nearly half a decade, announced its closure in a Dec. 31 Facebook post.

“It has been an incredible journey bringing live music to Ames, and we are deeply grateful for every moment we’ve shared with all of you,” the post said. “The friendships, memories, and unforgettable nights have been awesome.”

Owners Bill and Jen Malone opened Noir in the historic Sheldon Munn building on April 1, 2021. The cocktail bar was designed to transport patrons back to the speakeasy days of the 1920s, when the old hotel was constructed…
