More than a million drivers in the Midwest and Northern Plains were warned of “rapidly changing” conditions on Friday morning as gusty winds and falling snow combined to create dangerous snow squalls.
The travel warnings accompany a slew of winter weather advisories issued by myriad National Weather Service (NWS) offices across the region on Friday morning. The forecast follows a period of wintry weather that prompted snow squall warnings to be issued in the Mid-Atlantic region on Thursday.
