DES MOINES, Iowa — A chase through Des Moines’ east side ended in a crash early Wednesday morning.
The pursuit began at 1:48 a.m. on I-235 when a trooper with the Iowa State Patrol attempted to pull over a 2013 Dodge Dart that had been reported stolen, according to Sgt. Alex Dinkla, Public Information Officer for the ISP. After a short chase, the stolen vehicle crashed into a light pole at the corner of East Broadway and Hubbell Avenue.

Sgt. Dinkla said the driver had multiple warrants and is suspected of being impaired at the time of the crash. They are being checked out at a Des Moines hospital.
The name of the driver has not yet been released. Sgt. Dinkla expects to provide more information on the pursuit later on Wednesday…
