Iowa bowling team heading to state after bowling alley fire

DES MOINES, Iowa — A fire at an Osceola bowling alley left a high school bowling team feeling hopeless, but now they’re overcoming those difficulties and competing at state championships.

On the morning of January 25th, bowlers in Osceola awoke to the sight of a former bowling alley turned into smoldering ashes. Those who were a part of the Clarke High School bowling team were in shock.

Clarke Junior Aydan Mathews related, “I was in disbelief, I didn’t know anything that was going to go on. It was really hard news to have.”

Senior Emily Glenn felt similarly. “I was in shock, I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t realize that it was actually on fire until I showed up to the scene and just saw the pile of rubble there.”…
