Senior Katie Biscoglia, who is apart of the Raccoon River Northwest Wrestling Team, just wrapped up her high school career, which set an incredible foundation for the future of the sport within the state of Iowa.
RRNW is a combination of four schools, including Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Van Meter, Waukee, and Waukee Northwest. Biscoglia currently attends Van Meter, and began her wrestling journey in 2016 after her older brother Kyle went to the Olympic Training Center and thought it could be a sport that Katie could do, even though she was in gymnastics at the time. Kyle wrestled for Waukee High School and is a 3-Time Champion who is now wrestling at the University of Northern Iowa, as Katie shares that he is always there to crack a joke with her or pick her up when she is feeling down.
Katie put together quite the impressive high school resume, finishing her career with a 206-2 overall record, and is a 3-Time Champion herself, plus a four-time finalist, falling in her final match against Ankeny’s Lauren Watson. Despite that, she has impacted the future of the sport, as not only her teammates admire her but also other wrestlers and younger girls around the state.
