Des Moines chase hit speeds over 100 mph, ended in crash, police say

DES MOINES, Iowa — A man was arrested early Tuesday morning in Des Moines following a high-speed police pursuit that ended in a crash.

Colby Ponxs Green, 38, is charged with eluding, driving while barred, reckless driving, and multiple traffic offenses, including driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway.

Arrest made in Des Moines drive-by shooting

The chase began around 2:51 a.m. when a DMPD officer attempted to pull over the vehicle Ponxs Green was operating at SE 14th Street and E. Bell Avenue on a traffic violation, according to court records. Ponxs Green refused to stop and led officers on a chase that reached over 100 mph in a 35 mph zone, said Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer for the Des Moines Police Department.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle Ponxs Green was driving crashed into a retaining wall near 2nd Avenue and Euclid Avenue. Sgt. Parizek said he was arrested without incident.

Ponxs Green is being held in the Polk County Jail. Online court records did not yet list a date for a preliminary hearing…
