(Des Moines, IA) — The Iowa High School Boys Wrestling State Tournament started on Wednesday with Class 3A competition at the Casey’s Center. SE Polk leads the team competition after day one with 68 points with North Scott in 2nd place with 58. Lewis Central is in 13th place.
Lewis Central had eight wrestlers compete on day one and four are still alive in the championship round: Zander Manz had a first round bye at 120 pounds and won his 2nd round match 4-1. Weston Porter had a first round bye at 126 pounds and won his 2nd round match by tech fall. Owen Duffek had a first round bye at 138 and won his 2nd round match by fall at 1:36. Paxton Blanchard had a first round bye at 215 and won in the 2nd round 4-1.
