DES MOINES, Iowa — The overnight winter storm brought heavy snow to central Iowa, making the roads a dangerous mess. An Iowa State Patrol trooper was lucky to escape injury when a semi lost control in the storm and hit his patrol car.

The Iowa State Patrol posted photos of Trooper Goldsberry’s damaged patrol vehicle to social media Friday morning, providing details of the incident that happened near Altoona.
Trooper Goldsberry had just stepped out of his vehicle to assist a motorist at mile marker 144 on I-80 when a semi traveling too fast for the conditions crashed into the rear of his patrol car, the ISP said. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The ISP implored drivers to keep road conditions in mind while traveling during inclement weather.
“This is why we urge EVERY driver to slow down, leave extra space, and be extra cautious when roads are snowy, icy, or wet. Our Troopers are out there – no matter the weather – working to keep everyone safe. Help us keep them safe, too!” the post stated…
