Many Catholics do not eat meat on Fridays in Lent, prompting them to host fish fry meals.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on the east side of Des Moines will be serving up baked or hand-breaded fried pollack fish every Friday from Feb. 20 to March 27, 2026.
