POLK COUNTY, Iowa — Two 17-year-olds from northeast Iowa have been arrested in Des Moines following a high-speed police pursuit in a stolen vehicle early Wednesday morning.
Lt. Mark Chance, Public Information Officer for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, said around 3:00 a.m., deputies tried to stop a vehicle near the intersection of I-80/35 and NW 2nd Avenue. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Black Hawk County.
The driver did not stop and fled westbound onto the interstate. Lt. Chance said the chase reached speeds exceeding 120 mph at times. The vehicle exited the interstate and traveled eastbound on University Avenue until coming to a stop in the 1800 block of University Avenue on a dead-end street.

The male driver was taken into custody without incident, and the passenger, also male, fled on foot…
