JOHNSTON, Iowa — A Guthrie County woman has been charged after over 30 cats, many suffering from various illnesses, were rescued from a Johnston home.

The Johnston Police Department said that on December 17, officers performed an animal welfare check at a residence in the 7300 block of Hyperion Point Drive. When officers arrived at the home, they found 34 cats inside. According to the JPD, many of the cats had upper respiratory infections, fleas, serious dental problems, and severe ear mites.
The cats were removed from the home and are now in the care of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
On Wednesday, the JPD said it has arrested and charged 35-year-old Claire Marie Faalk of Guthrie County with four counts of animal neglect causing serious injury or death and two counts of animal neglect causing serious injury…
