Perry Lions Club learns what’s new about Perry history

Larry Vodenik was the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Perry Lions Club on Feb. 23, and he told the club members about the recent formation of the Perry Iowa Historical Society.

There are now 25 members, he said, and the leaders are trying to locate a building to house and showcase the Perry artifacts, thereby providing a comprehensive history of Perry.

The contents of the history center will be varied, Vodenik told the Lions. Brian Eiteman will display some old Perry fire engines, and Gordon Klatt, Rick Kuhn and Vodenik will have many old photos and items of memorabilia. They also hope to include the 53-year history of RAGBRAI and the local BRR bike ride among the museum’s artifacts…
