DES MOINES, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — A puppy injured in what authorities describe as a domestic violence incident is recovering at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
ARL officers were called March 5 to assist Des Moines police during a domestic violence investigation. Officers said they found the young dog thin, shaking and stained with blood. She was unable to stand or sit and cried out when touched.
The puppy was transported to the ARL for emergency veterinary treatment. An examination by the organization’s Miracle Medical Team found a broken leg, significant bruising and swelling, and trauma to one eye. X-rays also revealed a fractured jaw that veterinarians believe occurred earlier than the other injuries…
