Cadet pleads guilty to lesser charge, no longer with DMPD

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department says a cadet is no longer employed with the force after pleading guilty to a lesser charge following a January incident.

On January 23, the Des Moines Police Department announced that 20-year-old Cadet Dominick Hoffman had been charged with one count of Simple Assault. Des Moines police said Hoffman joined the DMPD in May 2025 and had been placed on administrative leave.

Des Moines police stated that an employee reported an incident involving Hoffman and, after reviewing the allegations, contacted a third party.
