Des Moines Fire Department closes old Station 4, moves to new facility

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Fire Department announced the official closure of old Station 4 on Tuesday morning. Crews packed things up and moved to the new Station 4 facility.

The now-defunct station is located near DMACC’s urban campus on University Avenue and is only about a mile northwest from the new station, which is located on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway close to King Elementary School.

“While change isn’t always easy, the crews at Station #4 are thrilled to operate out of the new facility and raise the bar on the already high-quality service they provide to the community,” the fire department said in a Facebook post…
