Updated: Blizzard Warning Issued for Most of Iowa: As Winter Storm Brings Heavy Snow and Dangerous Winds

(Des Moine) A winter storm will impact parts of the Upper Midwest today through Monday morning. Snow will become widespread across Iowa, with higher totals of 6 inches or more possible in northern and eastern areas. Strong winds gusting between 55 and 65+ mph will cause significant blowing and drifting snow, leading to reduced visibility. Travel may become extremely dangerous, and at times impossible, across parts of northern and eastern Iowa.

Precipitation will start as rain this morning, then change to a wintry mix that could produce light ice accumulations before transitioning completely to snow.
