POLK COUNTY, Iowa — Within the next year, Polk County could have a new place for families experiencing homelessness to stay until they get on their feet. Leaders are currently working to secure a site for a new multimillion-dollar transitional housing project.
Last year, the county spent around $400,000 to put families in hotel rooms, according to supervisor Matt McCoy.
