Des Moines homicide victim identified by police

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department has released the name of a Des Moines man killed in a shooting on the city’s northeast side over the weekend.

Daniel Lott Sr., 45, has been identified as the victim who died following a shooting in the 3600 block of Kennedy Drive on Sunday morning, according to Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer for the DMPD. Officers responded to the location after a 911 call reporting the shooting, which came in just after 4:00 a.m.

When officers and medics from the Des Moines Fire Department arrived, they found Lott, who had been shot, inside an apartment. Lifesaving efforts were conducted, but Lott died at the scene, Sgt. Parizek said.

The shooting is believed to be the result of a dispute between the victim and someone he knew. According to Sgt. Parizek, the suspected shooter fled the scene, and DMPD is working to locate him. His name has not been released to the public.
