(Essex) — An Essex farm couple has received statewide recognition for their work in agriculture and commitment to community service.
Pete and Dana Wenstrand of Essex are among the four farming couples being honored as 2026 Master Farmers in Ankeny on Wednesday at the FFA Enrichment Center. The awards are handed out each year by Wallaces Farmer Magazine and the Iowa Master Farmer Association. Pete Wenstrand tells KMA News that they were surprised and honored to receive the recognition, which was done by a nomination and letter of support process.
“For those who nominated both Dana and I, and those who provided letters of support, that’s very touching, and we appreciate that recognition,” said Pete Wenstrand. “Of course, this is the 100th anniversary of this organization, and there have been over 500 individuals and couples recognized, so we’re very honored.”…
