Mustangs track and field has a busy Thursday with the boys at the Waukee Early Bird Track Meet and the Girls at the Johnston Quad.
This is the first time the whole boys’ squad has competed together since the IATC indoor championships two weeks ago. They tied for 16th place out of 30 teams. There was an invitational a couple of days ago at Urbandale, but only the partial team attended the event. The Early Bird Track Meet features eight schools, including DCG and other top names in high school track and field like Waukee, Valley, and Southeast Polk.
The girls are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Simpson High School Classic on Tuesday evening in Indianola. Several Mustangs had good nights, like Leighton Stanford, who made second place in the 400m hurdles, as well as the relay teams making the top 3 in multiple events.
