DES MOINES, Iowa — Authorities have identified the person who was found dead Tuesday after a Des Moines Police officer fired on another person during a welfare check.
On Wednesday, Des Moines police released further details saying officers were initially called to the 7100 block of SE 5th Street around 8 p.m. for a welfare check after a father reported he had not been able to contact his adult daughter and was concerned.
Des Moines Police say officers first knocked at the residence repeatedly before management opened the door.
