ANKENY, Iowa — An Ankeny man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly trying to stab his father and then injuring him when the knife was wrestled away.
Adrian Hayes, 19, was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Display or Use Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was booked into the Polk County Jail and, as of noon Monday, was being held on a bond of $5,000.
Second arrest made in Des Moines human trafficking investigation
Sgt. Trevor McGraw, Public Information Officer for the Ankeny Police Department, said officers were called to the 1700 block of NW 4th Street on a domestic dispute around 7:30 Sunday night. When they arrived, they found the victim had been cut during an altercation with his son, Adrian Hayes.
Court records state that Hayes threatened to stab his father before he went to the kitchen and grabbed a large kitchen knife. Hayes allegedly jabbed his father in the stomach with the knife, but didn’t cause injury. While the father tried to get the knife away from Hayes, police said the father was cut on the inside of his right arm.
The victim was transported to a Des Moines hospital with non-life-threatening injuries…
