Grimes man accused in infant’s death faces nine new charges in Polk County

POLK COUNTY, Iowa– New charges have been filed against an accused child abuser in Grimes.

Police arrested Dylan James Brown, 23, last August after his infant and the child’s mother were allegedly found beaten. New court documents show he has racked up even more charges while in jail awaiting trial.

Prosecutors said he continued to contact the woman even after a ‘No Contact Order’ was put into place. A criminal complaint stemming from the initial incident on Aug. 7 alleges that the mother tried to intervene after she woke up and found Brown beating their 2-month-old daughter. She told investigators that she was attacked herself, chased out of the room and choked until she was unconscious.

Brown has been held at the Polk County Jail without bail for violating his probation. New court filings detail numerous separate times that he has allegedly tried to contact the victim from jail over the past seven months. That has landed him nine new contempt charges for violating the protective order…
