DMPD urges safety after infant dies, toddler injured in separate incidents involving dogs

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department is urging parents and caregivers to practice safety after an infant died and a toddler was injured in separate incidents involving dogs.

The DMPD said the first incident happened at around 6:30 a.m. on Friday. According to the DMPD, rescue crews responded to an apartment in the 3600 block of Kennedy Drive after it was reported that an infant was in cardiac arrest and had been injured by a dog. The infant died at the scene.
