First Alert Days issued for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Monday is the first of three days that will bring the chance of severe weather to Eastern Iowa.

Because of this severe weather activity, the First Alert Storm Team has issued First Alert Days for each of these days.

Monday

Monday will start dry and remain dry through the afternoon.

We will watch the late afternoon and evening for showers and storms that may develop over Northern Iowa. These storms will have to overcome some capping and may struggle to develop. Where storms do form, the primary threats will be damaging winds and large hail, but isolated tornadic activity cannot be ruled out. The Storm Prediction Center has this area under a slight risk of severe weather.

Storms will continue overnight and into early Tuesday morning.

Tuesday

There will be a break in the rain during the late morning. The faster these showers move out, the more time the atmosphere will have to warm and regain energy…
