A Des Moines man is facing a felony drug charge following a traffic stop in Carlisle earlier this month.
According to court documents filed in Warren County, 51-year-old Christopher Dewayne Parmenter is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Third or Subsequent Offense, a Class D felony.
Court records show officers with the Carlisle Police Department conducted a traffic stop at approximately 11:07 p.m. on April 17th on Highway 5 South after observing a vehicle with no working license plate lamps. During the stop, court records indicate the officer observed a white crystalline substance on Parmenter’s hands, clothing, and the driver’s seat, along with a torch located near him. Authorities say Parmenter initially attempted to wipe the substance away, but later admitted it was methamphetamine and told the officer he had recently used the drug.
