Barn fires in Iowa kill hundreds of hogs, fully destroy buildings

Barn fires in northwest Iowa included the deaths of hundreds of hogs over the weekend.

According to reporting from KTIV and KCAU, the fire broke out around 11:30 a.m. Sunday at a hog facility in rural Plymouth County, Iowa. Fire crews from Oyens Volunteer Fire Rescue and the Remsen Fire Department responded to the scene and found the building fully engulfed in flames and collapsing.

Officials said firefighters quickly requested assistance from the Le Mars and Kingsley fire departments to help contain the blaze and protect nearby structures and equipment.
