Iowa Methodist Medical Center has become one of the first in Iowa to perform a procedure using 4D intracardiac echocardiogram (ICE) ultrasound technology, marking a significant advancement in cardiovascular care for patients in Iowa.
ICE is an ultrasound performed within the heart, providing physicians with real-time imaging during procedures such as ablations and left atrial appendage closures. The 4D ICE imaging is the latest advancement in intracardiac echocardiogram technology. This technology produces live images within the heart to enable greater accuracy and precision during procedures. This technology is especially valuable for guiding transeptal punctures, when physicians move from the right to the left side of the heart, while also helping reduce fluoroscopy (radiation) exposure.
“4D ICE technology allows us to see the heart in real time with improved clarity, which helps us perform procedures with greater precision and confidence,” said Dr. David Briceno. “Ultimately, this means safer procedures and better outcomes for our patients.”…
