Tornado Breakdown from Sunday Evening

Des Moines, IA — Wednesday afternoon at roughly 2 p.m., the National Weather Service in Des Moines finalized most of its damage surveys from Sunday night’s severe weather event.

A total of six tornadoes were confirmed across Palo Alto, Pocahontas, and Kossuth counties. The strongest occurred in rural Mallard, where an EF1 tornado produced peak winds of 95 mph. It touched down at 9:09 p.m. and lifted at 9:12 p.m., traveling 2.7 miles. No additional comments were included in the report.
